The Torkham, Chaman and Ghulam Khan terminals are going to be opened along the Pak-Afghan border for twenty-four hours, 6 days every week from June 22 onwards.
According to the inside Ministry, the Torkham, Chaman and Ghulam Khan terminals are going to be opened along the Pak-Afghan border for twenty-four hours, 6 days every week from June 22 onwards.
The notification stated, “I am directed to ask this ministry’s letter of even no dated May Day , 2020 on the topic cited above and to convey that competent authority has approved management of Afghan transit/bilateral trade and pedestrian movement along Pak-Afghan border with effect from June 22.”
It is being reported that a complete of 500 trucks are going to be crossing the Torkham border terminal on June 22 – a good 250 from all sides of the border. The Pakistani trucks are going to be given to Afghan drivers at zero of Torkham. Similarly, the Afghan vehicles are going to be driven by the Pakistani drivers at crossing point.
Pakistani exports to Afghanistan were Rs 128 billion within the FY 2019-2020 and Rs 122 billion in FY 2018-2019. Let’s hope that opening the Pak-Afghan border for trade helps improve our financial position for FY 2020-2021.
