20 killed as train crashes into coach carrying Sikh pilgrims near Sheikhupura

According to police, the dead, which include two children, were all residents of Peshawar.

The accident occurred at an unmanned Railway crossing on the brink of the town of Sheikhupura. The 19 killed were all passengers seated within the coaster. They were traveling from the town of Nankana Sahib to Farooqabad – both sites revered by followers of Sikhism.

Prime Minister Imran Khan also took notice of the accident and offered condolences to the victims’ families. He directed to supply the simplest possible medical treatment to those injured within the accident.

The PM also said Pakistan’s railway safety would be reviewed. Pakistan’s railways have witnessed variety of accidents over the previous couple of years, including frequent collisions between vehicles and trains.

President Dr. Arif Alvi also expressed deep grief and sorrow over the loss of precious lives within the train accident in Sheikhupura. during a statement, he directed to supply best medical facilities to injured persons of the accident.
